American Cancer Society Supports Vaping Over Smoking
The American Cancer Society (ACS) has just released a new statement regarding the elimination of combustible tobacco use in the United States. There’s a few interesting sections in particular that delve into the public perception of vaping devices. Here’s a short summary of the article and what it means for us vapers.
According to research from multiple medical institutions there is a direct connection to combustible tobacco usage and mortality rates in this county. We all already knew that, but what you may not have know is that a vast majority of these tobacco consumers are living below the poverty level in america. Many of these consumers have been falsely led to believe, by Big Tobacco and other corporate interests, that vape devices are just as harmful to a person's health as actual cigarettes.
Due to limiting education brackets there’s often a lack of information available to low income communities about the actual science behind the Vaping vs. Smoking debate.
“In 2012, only 11.5% of respondents to a national survey held this view. By 2015, 35.7% of respondents mistakenly believed that the harm associated with electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) was “about the same” as that of smoking conventional cigarettes”
In light of this information the ACS has stated that it is critical to keep the public informed about alternative nicotine delivery systems. It is imperative that tobacco users cease using combustible tobacco ASAP.
Even with long term studies unavailable the research has shown time and time again that vaping devices are a healthier alternative to combustible tobacco.
According to a strategy laid out by the ACS, Electronic Cigarettes could play an important role in smoking cessation education. According to this strategy in the next few years the ACS will...
“Communicate that, although the long-term effects of ENDS are not known, current-generation ENDS are markedly less harmful than combustible tobacco products”
As well as...
“Contribute to the research to determine how or whether ENDS might be integrated into evidence based cessation options”
With the American Cancer Society backing ENDS (Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems) education there will be a massive increase in the amount of tobacco users who are accurately informed about vaping devices. Finally, after years of Big Tobacco spreading false information about the vaping industry, consumers will be able to make the healthy decision to quit cigarettes for good in favor of safer vape devices.
