“The Consumer Advocates for Smoke-free Alternatives Association (CASAA) is a non-profit 501(c)(4) organization with an all-volunteer board and a grassroots membership of more than two hundred thousand individuals from all walks of life, and we are growing daily. We are a consumer organization, not a trade association. We are dedicated to ensuring the availability of reduced harm alternatives to smoking and to providing smokers and non-smokers alike with honest information about those alternatives so that they can make informed choices.”

CASAA was formed in 2009 as an advocacy group meant to raise awareness and protect the rights of vaping consumers' access to reduced-harm alternatives. The CASAA website provides access for members and the general public to find news articles, scientific research studies, pending legislation reports, and educational materials regarding vapor products. 

At present, CASAA has more than 200,000 registered members. 

Membership is free. 

WHY TO JOIN

I'd like to urge readers to consider joining CASAA for the benefit of adding clout to an organization intent on protecting their rights. The work included takes five minutes, but the effect should be significant. 

CASAA Benefits:

• Information — Resources are readily available on the CASAA website, with emails sent out to members to help them stay up-to-date on news. Members can search current "calls-to-action" in their state to find events in their local area. 
• Community — Involvement with CASAA guarantees community. Meeting with other members and becoming friends is a cornerstone of any organization. A blog page is available for members to find news, events, and enter into discussions. 
• Representation — By joining CASAA, members inherently strengthen an organization dedicated to protecting the rights of millions. Info about elections and politicians who support vaping can be read on the CASAA website, and "calls-to-action" are posted on the main page, so members can become more involved.

MOVING FORWARD 

More than ever before, CASAA's role in the creation of US legislation is paramount. FDA regulations and attempts by tobacco-funded control organizations are threatening the future of the vaping community, and if our opponents get what they want, vaping will soon be a thing of the past.

Community solidarity, education, and involvement will be of the utmost importance in the approaching struggle to reserve our rights as consumers to have access to reduced-harm smoking alternatives.
